What an implant consultation covers
Implant planning is more than just deciding to "get an implant." We assess the volume and quality of bone at the site, check the position of nerves and your sinus, evaluate your bite and the surrounding teeth, and walk through the full timeline — extraction (if the tooth is still present), healing, bone grafting if needed, and the eventual implant placement and crown.
Timing matters
The best window to plan for an implant is before the tooth comes out. Combining extraction with socket preservation grafting keeps your options simple and your costs lower than waiting until after the bone has shrunk. If a tooth has already been missing for months or years, we'll assess whether you need additional bone augmentation before placement.
If you're already in pain
Don't wait on a consultation if you're dealing with active infection or an abscess, or you need an emergency extraction. We'll handle the urgent issue first, plan for the implant during the same visit, and time everything around your healing.
